Netflix Preparing For Show Losses

Many show providers for Netflix have been taking back their shows to prepare for their own streaming services. One of the most aggressive of these providers being Disney. Having a new streaming service, Disney+, coming out on November 12, 2019, they first cut off the stream of new content going to Netflix, and then started taking back their old shows as soon as their contracts were up.

NBCUniversal wanted to take back 'The Office', an old show about the boss of a paper company and his employees. After some discussion with Netflix, they decided to extend the contract another year, leaving it on Netflix until 2021. They might even offer to share it with Netflix at a discounted price.

Netflix says that it foresaw all of this, and has been preparing for it by making their own content, such as Stanger Things and Ozark. Unfortunately, these are less viewed than other shows.

whether Netflix will manage to stay afloat or not, only time will tell.
